National Basketball Association 50 Greatest Players Signed Lithograph from Sam Jones. Unquestionably the most coveted single piece in the basketball autograph collecting hobby is this simply awe-inspiring lithograph produced to commemorate the League's Golden Anniversary in 1996. The tremendous array of Hall of Fame talent that has blessed this piece with 10/10 pencil autographs below artfully rendered photo-realistic portraits is only part of the equation, however. The scarcity of the piece--only 250 were ever produced--puts the owner of one in an elite class of legendary athletes, team executives and VIP's fortunate enough to have access to the tiny supply. This one once belonged to superstar Boston Celtics guard Sam Jones, who appears between Michael Jordan and Rick Barry at lower left. Just below is a handwritten notation earmarking this copy for him, which reads, "Jones 1/1."

While a few of these hardcourt icons have passed since the 1996 signing (notably Chamberlain, Mikan and DeBusschere), only the tragic early death of Pete Maravich kept this piece from being signed by the full contingent of fifty in 1996. 1922-30 New York Yankees Payroll Checks Lot of 8. The Yanks get paid. Eight payroll checks were issued by "The American League Base Ball Club" to veteran pitcher "Sad Sam" Jones (2), backup catcher Fred "Bootnose" Hofmann (2), second baseman Aaron Ward (2), Eddie Holly and A.A. Woods. Each is signed by team secretary and Hall of Famer Ed Barrow and president Jacob Ruppert in NRMT ink on the front, and countersigned by the player himself on verso. 1928 Boston Garden Dual Stadium Seats with Boston Celtics & Bruins Autographs. Ancient pair of attached stadium seats bore witness to decades of action at this historic defunct sporting arena. The original condition of the seats and the orange paint that coats them is altered only by the flawless black sharpie autographs of Larry Bird and Bill Russell that currently appear upon them. As an added bonus, we are also providing two additional back slats that could be attached to the seats if desired, packed with still more autographs of the men who made the Garden so memorable. The larger slat features sixteen autographs from the likes of Cousy, Walton, Heinsohn, Sharman, Russell, Sam Jones, K.C. Jones, Havlicek, Auerbach and Bird. 1920's Miller Huggins Signed Baseball. A great garage sale find for our lucky consignor, who noticed this OAL (Johnson) ball amidst the board games and baby clothes. Most noteworthy among the signatures is the pint-sized Hall of Fame Yankees manager, who signs in his standard "MJ Huggins" variation. Framing his autograph are those of fellow Bronx Bombers Sam Jones and Everett Scott, likely narrowing the date of the sphere to the 1922 to 1925 range. Each of these autographs rates 5/10 in boldness. Brooklyn Dodgers part owner S.W. McKeever (2/10) is here as well, with Gunboat Hudson and Jack Fournier (each 8/10). The former young owner of the ball has applied his name as well in a childlike hand. Huggins' sudden and early death in 1929 has made his autograph a tough find, particularly on a baseball, so this is a fine opportunity to fill a hole in your collection. Don't let it pass by. 1950's Basketball Hall of Famers Vintage Signed Basketball. Never again can you hope to find such a constellation of basketball stars joined together on a single ball, so bid now or forever hold your peace. Presented to a Beantown hoops fan with the finely rendered block lettered inscription, "To Our Pal and Royal Rooter Jimmy Sheehan, Boston Celtics." Signatures include such hardcourt luminaries as Bill Russell, Red Auerbach, Johnny Most (announcer), Bob Cousy, George Mikan, Bill Sharman, Arnie Risen, Tom Heinsohn, Sam Jones, Andy Phillip, Walter Brown (the only Brown signature on a basketball that we've ever seen!) and more. Though the contrast of the signatures competes a bit with the dark hide of the ball, they are all nonetheless readily legible and rate an average of 9/10 in ink strength. 1958-59 Boston Celtics Team Signed Program. A four-game sweep over the Minneapolis Lakers earned this storied franchise its second World Championship in three years, delivering a stinging blow to the segregationists who disapproved of the team's racial diversity. Ten of the eleven members of Red Auerbach's superstar club pictured on the cover of this Boston Garden program have signed in 9/10 or better blue ink: K.C. Jones, Ramsey, Sam Jones, Sharman, Cousy, Swain, Loscutoff, Heinsohn, Conley and Russell. With six Hall of Famers, this team represents arguably the most talent-packed professional franchise in American sports history.
