The appearance by The Golden Age Collection, Part II will mark the second installment of this remarkable collection offered through Heritage. The Golden Age Collection, Part I, enjoyed record-setting results in Heritage’s Dec. 19-21 Winter Sports Catalog Auction. “This is a remarkable collection of incredible signed cards, and they were period-signed,” says Chris Ivy, Heritage’s Director of Sports Auctions. “So many collections of signed cards include many that were signed years after the athletes retired, but that’s not the case here. The consignor got many at the stadiums, but he also visited restaurants or hotel lobbies — anywhere he thought he had a chance to meet the players who appeared on the cards. This collection is about his love of sports, and his unquenchable thirst to meet as many of the players in it as possible … and that’s one of the great things about it. He didn’t just go after the biggest names. He treated the most famous and the least famous players in it the same way. He wanted to meet them all … and most of these cards are in excellent condition.” The collection features little-known players, familiar to only the most dedicated students of the game … but also features some of the biggest names of the 1940s and 1950s, icons among the greatest in the history of the game. A 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant #DL-KM Signed PSA EX-MT 6 - #’d 1/1 set the auction record for any sports card when it brought $12.932 million in Heritage’s August 23-24 Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction. “The Logoman has become one of the most coveted cards in all of sports collecting,” Ivy says, “and this card captures two of the greatest and most popular players of the current generation, players who very well could end up as Hall of Famers.” The card shows the gold Logoman patches from Ohtani and Judge stacked in a vertical alignment, with photos of Ohtani in the upper right corner and Judge in the lower left, with “2/4” marked upper left. It is presented in its original plastic capsule as delivered by Topps, meaning it is virtually untouched by human hands. The soaring demand for Logoman cards also will steer collectors toward the only copy in existence of a 2025 Topps Dynasty Black Clayton Kershaw (3,000 Strikeout Pants-Autographed Logoman) #CKD-1 - #'d 1/1 that bears the patch once affixed to the uniform pants of the legendary lefty who just retired after a magnificent 18-year career, all spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers, that included three World Series titles and inevitable induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The card features a photo of Kershaw from the July 2 game in which he became just the 20th pitcher, and just the fourth southpaw, in Major League Baseball history to strike out 3,000 or more batters. Its pristine condition is assured, as it remains in the plastic capsule in which it was delivered by Topps. Babe Ruth remains the biggest name in baseball collecting, and can be found represented in 52 lots in this auction. Among them is one of just five examples of a 1916 Herpolsheimer Co. Babe Ruth Rookie #151 PSA Fair 1.5. The obverse (front) image is one of the most famous of the pre-war era, depicting the baseball legend known best as the burly power-hitting Yankees outfielder in his early career as a lanky left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. Heritage sold one of the other examples of the card in August for more than $1.4 million. The card offered in this auction does not carry the same grade, but Ruth’s popularity within the hobby and the microscopic population make this a prized card for the most serious of collectors. An even rarer offering is a 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Babe Ruth (Blank Back) #147 SGC EX 5 that is one of just two examples. This card is the only blank-backed specimen in the SGC population. It is believed that the image selected for this card derives from the same photo shoot as the image in Ruth’s rookie card. Nobody draws more interest from basketball collectors than Michael Jordan, who is represented in this auction in 89 lots, including a 2006 Fleer Buyback Michael Jordan (1986 Fleer-Autograph) #57 PSA Authentic, Auto 10. Included with the card is a COA, the top of which reads “CONGRATULATIONS! You have received a trading card that was originally released unsigned in a previous product and now includes a personal autograph from Michael Jordan.” Another icon who features prominently in the auction is Nolan Ryan, who appears on 95 lots, including a 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan - Mets Rookie Stars #177 PSA Mint 9 on which he appears with fellow Mets rookie pitcher Jerry Koosman. Over 27 seasons, Ryan cemented himself as one of the most prolific power pitchers in the history of the game, piling up 324 victories and setting MLB records with 5,714 strikeouts and seven no-hitters. Of the just over 18,500 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this example is one of only 68 cards graded MINT, with just one rated higher. The auction includes offerings for collectors with a wide range of interests, including a 1935 Gum Inc. Mickey Mouse Complete Set (96) that is the No. 2 Current Finest on the PSA Set Registry. This 96-card set was released as Walt Disney’s most iconic and beloved character was gaining popularity, with each card featuring cheerful scenes starring Mickey and other beloved characters, often accompanied by riddles that added a layer of interactive fun for those who saw the cards. This culturally significant set offers nostalgic artwork in exceptional condition. Every card has been graded by PSA; the majority fall between NM and Mint, and three earning PSA MINT 9 grades.
