Description

1978 Rafael Septien NFC Championship Ring. Though the 'boys would ultimately fail in their attempt to repeat as Super Bowl Champions, the twenty-eight point shutout of the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC title game left little doubt as to the "dynasty" status of this disco-era powerhouse. Presented is the ring presented to Pro Bowl placekicker Rafael Septien, who notched seven points (a field goal and four PAT's) in the thirty-five to thirty-one Super Bowl XIII loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Our records indicate that this is the first such ring consigned to auction since teammate Jethro Pugh's sold in December 2002. Five blue stones on the face represent earlier Championships, as diamond studs form the background. Left shank pictures a Cowboys helmet at center, with text reading "Cowboys Septien 1978, 1." Right shank: "Dallas N.F.C. Champions V, VI, X, XII, XIII." Interior band is stamped "Jostens 10K." Size ten.
