Description

1988 Wrigley Field First Night Game Home Run Baseball Hit by Lenny Dykstra. One of the great baseball debates of the age found the Wrigley purists on the losing end when the fabled Chicago ballpark surrendered its role as the last in the Majors to use any lights but the Sun. The first night game was scheduled for August 8, 1988, thrilling numerologists (8-8-88), but after Lenny Dykstra clubbed the first post-dark long ball in the Stadium's long history the skies opened up and the game was called on account of rain, wiping Dykstra's historic homer from the books. Unbelievably, Dykstra would repeat the task the following night, thereby recording the first official night game home run at Wrigley. Presented is that baseball, signed by Dykstra and inscribed by him "8-9-88, 1st HR at Night Wrigley, Mike Bileki (sic) Pitcher." ONL (Giamatti) ball exhibits fine game use.
