Description

1986 Lenny Dykstra New York Mets World Championship Ring. Like the 1986 World Championship trophy likewise listed within this auction, the presented ring represents the spoils of war from one of the most memorable Series in Major League Baseball's long history, owned by one of that Series' most valuable players. A scrappy lead-off hitter with thirty-one stolen bases during the regular season but just eight home runs, Dykstra adopted the role of slugger for the postseason, providing pop at critical moments in crucial games to bring Mets fans their first World Championship since the Amazin' season of 1969. The ten karat gold ring earned by Nails for his gritty performance provides a genuine diamond at the center of a blue stone upon the face, encircled by a perimeter of smaller diamonds and the miraculous words "1986 World Champions." The Mets logo and the words "116 Wins, New York" frame a miniature World Series trophy upon the left shank, while the right announces "Dykstra 4" on either side of a logo celebrating the Silver Anniversary of the Mets franchise. "LGB 10K" stamping appears at interior of the band, which measures to a size 9.5. Included is the large and impressive original wooden presentation box.
