1973-74 Joe Montana Ringgold High School Memorabilia Collection. The earliest Joe Montana sports collectibles known to exist, presented in one exciting lot. 1) Ringgold Rams football practice jersey. Tremendous wear, but fine, undamaged condition. Certainly the oldest Montana jersey ever to reach the hobby. 2) "Super Bowl of Prep Football Game" used quarterback towel. Notated in unknown hand, "Starting Q.B. Joe Mantana (sic), 'Big 33' Penn - 14 Ohio - 7, 8/10/74." 3) Program for this game at Hershey Stadium. EX-MT. 4) 1973 & 1974 prom photos (3) with future wife Kim. 4) Kim's prom purse. 5) Five personal snapshots of Joe, including one playing basketball, two playing baseball, and two horsing around in the snow. VG-EX. 6) Various high school commencement paperwork including program, invitation. 7) Various newspaper clippings. 8) Photographic wooden die-cut of Joe posing in his high school basketball uniform. 13" tall. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).If this lot looks familiar to you, there's a reason for that. The Joe Montana Notre Dame Collection, consigned to Heritage by Montana's first wife Kim, initially appeared in our May 2008 Signature Sports Collectibles Auction. Immediately after the close of the auction, Heritage was contacted by lawyers for the Hall of Fame quarterback challenging the ownership rights of certain contents of the lots, and as a result all sales had to be cancelled. A year and a half later, with all the dust of legal wranglings finally settled, we are able to present the abridged contents of the archive for your collecting enjoyment. Each lot will be accompanied by a letter of provenance from Kim Montana.
