Description

1932 Lyn Lary New York Yankees World Championship Ring. Well-loved golden trinket was the prize for Lyn "Broadway" Lary's help in securing the Yankee victory in the 1932 World Series, a Fall Classic best recalled today for Babe Ruth's fabled "Called Shot" in the second contest of the four-game sweep of the Cubs. The ring was first offered in the famous Barry Halper auction in 1999, accompanied by a note from Lary's son to Halper, which is included here as well. As indicated, the ring exhibits heavy wear, smoothing clean the bulk of the ring's definition though leaving the half carat diamond at center of the ring's face unhampered. Likewise clear as day is the elegant script at the interior band attributing the ring to "Lynford Lary." Despite condition issues, any player's ring from a Yankees World Championship, and particularly a prewar model, carries enormous collecting appeal. The ironclad provenance only further elevates the intense desirability of the offering. Size 9.5. A VG example of Lary's 1933 Goudey trading card is thrown in for display.
