Description

1949 Joe DiMaggio Signed New York Yankees Contract. Historic contract marks the first time in baseball history a player had reached the six-figure mark. The handwritten "$100,000" on the first page of this Uniform Player's Contract was a story that dominated the sports pages throughout the early Spring, as fans wondered if even the great DiMaggio could justify such a paycheck.

Though injuries limited DiMaggio's service to just seventy-six games, his first season playing fewer than 120, he also posted his best batting average (.346) since his historic 1941 campaign. And despite a weak Series against the club's perpetual October opponents, the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Yankees began a five-year World Championship run never duplicated before or since.

Flawless 10/10 black fountain pen ink signatures appear on page three from DiMaggio and fellow Hall of Famer George Weiss, who signs as VP of the ballclub. Original storage folds represent the entirety of condition issues, leaving the contract otherwise NRMT. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
