Description

1911 Ty Cobb & Walter Johnson Signed Page from the Addie Joss Benefit Game. We sure wish they would have kept going with this project, but we prefer to see the glass as half full rather than agonize over what might have been. We've all seen the famous panoramic photograph of the 1911 benefit game for Addie Joss' widow--in fact, Heritage set a World Record with the sale of Frank "Home Run" Baker's copy of the piece for just short of $90,000--but this is the first autographed artifact we've encountered from that unprecedented (and unrivaled) convergence of Dead Ball talent. The Georgia Peach and the Big Train provide flawless examples of their early autographs, while Shoeless Joe's wife accounts for the third and final signature on the 5.5x8.5" page. Original storage folds brush the Jackson and Johnson to no ill effect, and the page is otherwise free of any noteworthy faults. A truly exciting relic from this tragic yet thrilling event in early 20th century baseball history. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
