Description

Circa 1910 Brooklyn Superbas Celluloid Mirror. Stengel, Wheat and Daubert were the big stars of Brooklyn when this rare souvenir was made available to fans of the team that would come to be known as the Dodgers. Pictured are Charles H. Ebbets, Jr., whose name is certainly recognizable to any baseball historian, and Henry W. Medicus, the team treasurer. Together this pair bought out Harry Von der Horst and Hall of Fame manager Ned Hanlon to gain controlling interest in the team in the first decade of the twentieth century. The image of this entrepreneurial duo remains in splendid NRMT condition, with the only signs of wear or aging in the form of minor loss of silvering to the mirror on verso. Undoubtedly the finest example of the hypothetical handful of such pieces that could possibly exist today.
