Description

1927 Philadelphia Athletics Team Signed Baseball with Cobb. More stars than the nighttime sky appear on this OAL (Johnson) baseball signed during an historic season in American League baseball. Nursing aching bones through a late-career season in Philadelphia were Hall of Fame legends Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins and Zach Wheat, all three of whom ranked in the top ten of oldest players in the League that year. Joining them on this unbeatable orb are relative youngsters Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove and Mickey Cochrane, as well as the definitive "Old Timer" Connie Mack. That's seven Hall of Famers in all! Also appearing on the sweet spot is notable name Wm. "Kid" Gleason, who captained the doomed ship of the 1919 Chicago White Sox eight seasons earlier. Nineteen autographs are here in all, averaging a respectable and entirely legible 7/10 in boldness. A couple spots of deeper toning only add to the vintage patina. In many ways a more desirable find than the World Championship balls dating from a few seasons later. LOA from PSA/DNA.
