Description

Addie Joss Benefit Game Panoramic Reproduction. Limited-edition lithograph is a reprint of the 1911 Addie Joss Benefit panoramic which set the record price at auction for unsigned sports photographs in our signature sale last October. The exhibition game, held to benefit the Joss family after Addie's untimely death from tuberculosis, pitted a team of the AL's top players against the Cleveland Naps in what would be baseball's first incarnation of the All-Star Game. Several legends took part in the day's event, including future HOFers Young, LaJoie, Walter Johnson, Wallace, Baker, Crawford, Cobb and Collins. Litho includes a reproduction of the actual image, as well as lengthy text below setting the plot for the day's event. Hand-numbered "1674/2500" appears in pencil along the bottom edge. Measures 15x35", with professional matting and frame bringing final dimensions to 22x41".
