Description

1912 T207 Brown Background Irving Lewis With Emblem SGC 50 VG/EX 4. Graded 50 VG-EX 4 by SGC, the stand alone finest copy known of a total population of only ten graded to date. The uninformed would never guess this unassuming 97-year old Lewis card is one of the most famous cards in the hobby. The T207 Irving Lewis is as scarce as they come and is missing from most T207 "complete" accumulations, much like the T206 "Big Four." It is also a variation, this copy clearly showing the Boston Braves politically incorrect Indian head logo on Irving's right sleeve. The front and back are free of blemishes and scuffing, coloring is deep and rich, corner wear is the only physical element to account for the grade. Be it amazing or amazingly ironic, one of the preeminent cards of our hobby features a player who never appeared in a major league game.
