Description
1939 Hall of Fame Induction Class News Photograph. Baseball's version of a Grand Coronation occurred on June 12, 1939 when the greatest living figures in the game's history convened at Cooperstown, New York for enshrinement in the newly founded Hall of Fame. Here we find an original class photo picturing all of the honored guests but for Ty Cobb, who arrived late to the proceedings. The septuagenarian photo has been trimmed of its borders but otherwise presents very well, with limited wrinkling only apparent at certain angles to the light. Verso reveals some editorial markings and remnants of the newspaper clipping once applied there. Collect all of the cut signatures and frame them with this photo. Size 6.25x9.25".Auction Info
