Description

"Ebbets Field" Original Artwork by Glaubach. Celebrated Big Apple folk artist Harry Glaubach's unmistakable style is put to wonderful effect with this piece recalling the beloved Flatbush ballpark and the legendary players who once called it home. Commissioned works from this witness to decades of New York baseball history reside in the personal collections of such notable figures as James Cagney, Darryl Strawberry and Lou Piniella. A line-up of white uniformed Dodgers join Abbott and Costello and the Brooklyn Bum in the foreground, with a packed grandstand and charming early advertising signs dominating the rear. Constructed from die-cut wood and painstakingly applied paint, this large and impressive three-dimensional work measures 26x48x5". One of two original works by Glaubach presented within this auction, each signed by the artist on verso.
