Description
1987 Tim Brown Heisman Trophy Ring. Hands down, the Heisman Memorial Trophy Award is by far the most prestigious individual award in collegiate football. Presented annually to the most "outstanding" player in college football, and steps ahead of the Walter Camp and Maxwell Awards, which are presented to the "best" players in college football, the Heisman carries similar noteworthiness as the NFL's Most Valuable Player Award and even the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Heritage Auction Galleries is proud to present one of the most significant pieces of sports jewelry ever offered, which will be sure to attract the bidding of Notre Dame, Raiders and ring collectors, alike - Tim Brown's personal 1987 Heisman Trophy ring.Playing his high school ball for Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, the same school as 1938 Heisman winner Davey O'Brien, Brown chose to make his way up to South Bend to play from 1984-87 with the Fighting Irish. One of the most prolific wide receivers in Notre Dame history, Brown earned the nickname "Touchdown Timmy," for his uncanny knack to find the end zone.
The offered ring is an absolute treasure, and a true rarity, considering it is only presented once every year and is almost never spotted in hobby circles. The figural design of the Heisman Trophy, in gold, is surrounded by a total of approximately 1.50 carat full-cut diamonds (Color H, Clarity SI), which glisten in similar prominence as the actual trophy. Exhibiting the lightest amount of wear, the top reads "Heisman Memorial Trophy", with "Downtown Athletic Club of New York Founded 1928" and "Brown Notre Dame The Heisman Since 1935" on the sides. Ring consists of superior quality 14 karat gold, and was originally sourced from the collection of Tim Brown. Arguably, the most significant Heisman ring ever to hit the auction block, this fine piece of jewelry from the future Canton Hall of Fame inductee will surely serve as the focal point in any high-caliber collections of the gridiron.
