    Description

1941 Whirlaway Horseshoe Worn in the Belmont Stakes to Clinch the Triple Crown with Provenance. The Triple Crown is one of the most coveted feats in all of sports. Winning one leg will get you noticed. Getting that second victory will make the entire sporting world rise to its collective feet. And, oh, that third race is always the toughest. The Belmont is the true measuring stick for a horse. More often than not, if a horse wins the first two races the Belmont is the one which is the stumbling point - as it is the longest of the three. Well, Whirlaway dusted off the competition by winning the Belmont, thus capturing the Triple Crown in 1941. This horseshoe was used by the winning horse during that remarkable day. Light pitting appears on the Victory horseshoe which is set against a Sterling silver plate. The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
