Description

1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics Torch. The famous photograph of African-American track stars Tommie Smith and John Carlos with fists raised on the Mexico City medalists' platform stands to this day as one of the most iconic images of the Civil Rights movement. Here we present one of five torch designs utilized to carry the flame to these historic Games, crafted of aluminum and wood with simple yet powerful graphics ringing the lower handle and flame end. Oxidation inside the flame cone and medium surface wear throughout have no negative effect upon the impressive aesthetics of the fine artifact.
