    Early 1900's Horace Ramey University of Michigan Sweater, Trophy Cups, etc. One of several lots within this Platinum Night auction consigned by the family of American middle distance runner Horace Ramey, who ran for the American team in the 400 and 800 meter races. In the former, Ramey made it to semifinals, where he was eliminated by fellow American John Taylor, who would become the first black Olympic Gold Medalist at these Games.

    Lot includes the following: University of Michigan cross country trophy cup (3.5"); 1907 University of Michigan engraved cup; 1906 University of Michigan sweater ("Spalding", small holes throughout; two 1906 engineers caps. Letter of provenance from family of Horace Ramey. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
