1948 & 1949 Exhibits "Sports Champions" Collection (114). Offered is a 114-card collection set of "Sports Champions" Exhibit cards from 1948 and 1949. The second, and last of the "Sports Champions theme is by far the more challenging of the pair with complete sets almost never being offered at auction. Despite SGC's ambiguous labeling these are the 1949 cards confirmed by the blue ink print and unique to 1949 subjects. The majority of this collection is from 1949. Fifteen cards have been graded by SGC. Includes: SGC 82 EX/NM+ 6.5: 1 card, Motley; SGC 80 EX/NM 6: 2 cards, Glenn Dobbs (2); SGC 70 EX+ 5.5: 2 cards, Van Buren and Waterfield; SGC 60 EX 5: 4 cards, Glenn Dobbs, Dillard and Waterfield (2); SGC 55 VG/EX+ 4.5: 3 cards, Glenn Dobbs, Motley and Waterfield; SGC 35 Good+ 2.5: 1 card, Phillip; SGC 30 Good 2: 2 cards, Glenn Dobbs and Waterfield. Grades 64% VG to EX with a handful a little nicer, 36% lesser (some have pencil/ink marks). See our web site for a detailed list of the contents of this collection.
