1985 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Stickers Adam Bomb (Checklist Glossy) #8A PSA Gem Mint 10. As the sickly-sweet phenomenon of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls brought parents to blows during Christmas toy shopping excursions, the design team at Topps saw the perfect opportunity for parody, launching an issue that remains its most popular non-sports creation. Gone were the loving snuggles, replaced with gross-outs and gore. "After a while, we started to get punchy," wrote Topps art director Art Spiegelman. "We'd go into a trance trying to figure out, say, what we could do with some poor kid's ears that would be graphically compelling. Or how the kid would react to being stabbed."

Graded PSA Gem Mint 10. This is the most famous Garbage Pail Kid of them all, the image utilized for wax packs and boxes issued with the first five series. This is also the rarest and most desirable of the various sticker formats, featuring a glossy front and checklist back. Only eighteen examples have blasted to the very top of the PSA population. In short, if you only buy a single Garbage Pail Kid in your life, this is the one you want.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
