1996 Fleer/SkyBox Marvel Masterpieces Unopened Box with 18 Packs. The 1996 Marvel Masterpieces series of 100 cards, each featuring the marvelous artwork by fantasy artists Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. It was the fifth year for this brand and raised both the art quality, production values, and price. Sales were not great initially but now ranks as a classic. Unopened boxes are rare. Card #'s 1-54 feature Marvel Universe characters, both heroes and villains. Then came Duels and Legacies (#'s 55-84) and Genesis (#'s 85-99) plus a checklist. There are two insert sets available. Double Impact are double-sided cards with art from Boris on one side and Bell on the other, they were inserted 1:4 packs. There are six Gallery cards (inserted 1:3 packs). Upping the odds to new heights there were redemption cards for original artwork used for one of the cards. These were inserted 1:60,000 packs.
