Signed 1931 First Newspaper Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Premium Card PSA Good 2 - Auto 8. Walter Disney was born at the dawn of the 20th Century and became one of its most influential persons. He was a pioneer in the world of cartoon production and animation. It was Disney who brought full-color, and sound tracks to cartoons that were no longer just short fillers but feature-length productions that have mesmerized children for generations. His most endearing creations are films like Cinderella, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, and Bambi. Then there are the iconic cartoon characters like Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Minnie Mouse and of course, the mouse known worldwide - Mickey Mouse. Mickey's debut came in a short called "Steamboat Willie" in 1928 was also among the first cartoons with sound. Disney has won 22 Academy Awards and since its opening in 1955, Disneyland (the only theme park designed and built under his authority) has played host to over 650 million people.

Disney characters have probably appeared on almost every possible house-hold item or collectible. Offered is an extremely rare early premium card that predates the first Mickey Mouse card sets by a full four years. In the May 27, 1931 Mickey Mouse daily cartoon strip (drawn by Floyd Gottfredson) it involved Mickey having his picture taken. Readers could also get a copy of Mickey's "picture." This is the card they would receive. The scene you see on this card is the same from the cartoon strip cementing its connection and origin. The 3-3/8 x 5-3/8" card has the salutation "Gobs of Good Wishes, Mickey Mouse" and "Me too, Butch" who stands behind Mickey smiling away.

This "rookie" card of Mickey Mouse has been graded PSA Good 2 for hard to see creases. There are only three of these noted on the PSA census and while this example is the lowest ranked, make no mistake it is very special. The usually blank reverse displays a beautiful and huge autograph of Walt Disney along with the inscription, "Best Wishes to Master Frank Chandler." The signature has been rated PSA/DNA Auto 8. Even without the coveted autograph of an American icon this is a rare relic from the early years of what would still become the Disney entertainment empire.
