The 1940 Gum Inc. Superman set is the first-ever trading card series dedicated to the Man of Steel, capturing the early days of one of pop culture's most enduring heroes. Comprising 72 cards, the set is known for its overall rarity and strong collector demand. The final 24 cards (#49-72) are short-printed, making them significantly harder to find and more valuable than the earlier numbers. The set was released in 1940 and continued into 1941.
