Description
1886 N167 Old Judge Otto Bismark SGC 50 VG/EX 4. Otto von Bismarck is formally known as Otto Eduard Leopold. He was a strong leader who used war to gain power was not lacking for aggression and domination but also a shrewd politician who created the first welfare state in the modern world. His titles include Prince of Bismarck and Duke of Lauenburg. He was a huge influence in German and European politics in the second half of the 19th Century. He served as Minister President of Prussia from 1862 to 1890. His accomplishments include the unification of Germany (excluding Austria) under Prussia and then using diplomacy preserved German influence keeping the peace in what was a somewhat turbulent time in European relations. Bismarck is a hero to German nationalists with hundreds of monuments dedicated to the man history sees as a moderate statesman who kept the peace in Europe often using a balance of power but most noted for his unification of Germany. Offered is one of three cards to feature Bismark in this auction. Offered is his rare 1886 N167 Old Judge insert card, graded SGC 50 VG/EX 4.
