1966 Topps "Superman" Counter Display Box and 24 Five-Cent Wax Packs! Offered is a counter display box plus 24 unopened packs of "Superman" trading cards, issued by Topps in 1966. There certainly is no doubt about the popularity of the 1950's Superman series which aired from 1952-1958, seeing as this series came out some seven years after the show stopped making original episodes. The eye-catching, primary colored box advertising "Superman Cards" portrays George Reeves as the "Man of Steel" and offers the added enticement to "Watch Superman on T.V." The difficult to find counter box displays nicely but and has its the top panel separated from the base and one corner split (far left corner in the image), the back panel is creased and bowing. The 5-cent, wax paper packs are gum-less and each still houses five 46-year old fresh from the factory cards. Each pack has a pair of indents into the right side and judging by the consistent nature they seem to be factory induced. This anomaly may explain why these packs remained untouched for almost half of a century as unopened material from this popular series is quite difficult to find today.
