1960's Topps & Fleer Non-Sports Sets (4) - Television Shows. Offered is a gallery of four non-sports sets based on popular television shows. Includes: 1965 Fleer "Gomer Pyle" (66)- Complete Set of 66 Cards. For five seasons, from 1964-1969, Jim Nabors starred as the lead character in "Gomer Pyle-U.S.M.C. for CBS television as the simple country boy turned marine and his fiery relationship with his Gunnery Sergeant Vince Carter, Played by Frank Sutton. To capitalize on the popularity of the show, Topps produced a 66-card set of Gomer Pyle theme cards in 1965. Grades EX to NM; 1965 Fleer "McHale's Navy" (66) Plus Wrapper - Complete Set of 66 Cards. "McHale's Navy" was a very popular television show from 1962 through 1966 in which 138 episodes made way to air. Set during World War II, Commander Quinton McHale and his crew of woeful sailors formed one of the great sitcoms of the early 1960's. Grades EX to NM; 1966 Philadelphia "Daktari" (66) Plus Wrapper - Complete Set of 66 Cards. Daktari means "doctor" in Swahili. It is also the name of a 1960's CBS television that aired from 1966 and 1969. The children's drama series was inspired by a 1965 movie called "Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion" that starred Marshall Thompson as Dr. Marsh Tracy, a veterinarian at the "Wameru Study Centre for Animal Behaviour." Other cast members include his daughter Paula and his staff. Story lines were based on the protection of animals against poachers and corrupt govt. officials. Grades EX to NM; 1967 Topps "Maya" (55+16) Plus Wrapper - Complete Set of 55 Cards and 16 Puzzle cards. The "Maya" set features adventurer Terry Bowen following him throughout his travels of India.
