Description

1948 Topps X-Ray Round Up Ad Display Sign. Topps was promoting a new product called Pixie bubble gum with a set of 200 cards and called them "X-Ray Round-Up." It is a unique name for a unique issue. Subjects are pulled from the wild west, Indian chiefs, African tribesmen and even pirates. Sort of a homage to the non-urban, a-personality types. This edition is usually not found in any substantial quantity but far more rare is this 3-color retail adverting sign. The thin paper sign measures a healthy 26" x 20" and is printed on thin paper. Graphics explain how each card has a mystery picture on the reverse seen with special x-ray paper and the fronts will have famous figures of the wild west. There is some staining, fold lines as issued (one has a brief tear in the left edge but overall has survived nicely. This is the first time Heritage has been able to offer this Topps advertising piece. Very rare in any condition.
