1945 Mutoscope "They'll Do It Every Time" Opened Vending Box. Jimmy Hatlo created the "They'll Do It Every Time" comic strip which made its debut in Feb. 1929 and ran for eight decades, coming to an end on February 2, 2008. The title was eventually part of the King Features Syndicate beginning in 1936. Jokes and inspiration came from readers who received credit via a small illustrated acknowledgment of Halto tipping his hat in thanks. In 1945, the comic was the inspiration for a 32 card series to be sold in Mutoscope vending machines. Offered is an opened Mutoscope "They'll Do It Every Time" box with well over 400 cards (probably around 450) still largely undisturbed after more than a half a century. The outer box has some wear, creasing and two missing tabs which would have kept the box closed. The interior cards are in great shape and although we did not disturb all the cards, the loose one we see are EX/MT to NM/MT. We assume others to be as impressive but caution there may be lesser cards due to a production crease or a corner ding. Who knows how many complete sets this presentation will make?
