    Description

1940's R185 "Series of 48 - Western" Complete Set (48) In Original Uncut Strips. The R185 series is titled "Series of 48 - Western" was one of the multitude of 1940's strip card issues characterized by cheap stock, simple illustrations or one-color photos for fast and economic production. After all, there was a war going on. This lot offers a complete 48-card set (#'d 49 through 96) still in the original form they were circulated--8-card uncut strips. The set features western "celebrities" like Geronimo, Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill. The strips present at the EX/MT to NM levels with any wear universally limited to the exposed corners of the top and bottom cards. A terrific item for wall display.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
