Description

Rare 1966 O-Pee-Chee "Get Smart" Wax Box With 36 Unopened Packs! NOTE: For clarity, we refer to Topps in the 2nd paragraph but these are the O-Pee-Chee variety packs as will be the cards.

In the mid- to late-1960's, no two numbers made more people laugh than "86" and "99." "Get Smart" aired for five years from 1965 to 1970 starring Don Adams as Maxwell Smart or Agent 86 and Barbara Feldon as Agent 99. Like Batman & Robin, they even had their own chief in Thaddeus, played by Edward Platt. Shows like "Man from UNCLE" and "I Say" were very popular as were the James Bond and Pink Panther movies. This show was far more campy and brilliantly written by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. The stories focused on CONTROL agents 86 and 99 thwarting the evil organization KAOS. Neither organization was ever referred to any other way other than their respective anachronisms. The writers unknowingly introduce to the American public such lines like, "Would you believe...", "Missed it by that much!" and "I asked you not to tell me that."

The 1966 O-Pee-Chee series featured 66 Black & White cards that were issued across 44 different 2-card panels. Inside each pack is a full color ""Secret Agent Kit" card with goofy disguises. Packaging from this set is very rare. Unopened packs appear at auction rarely as we have not been able to find an offering during the last four years. Offered is an almost impossible to find complete box of 36 unopened 5-cent packs along with their original counter display box they once called home. Condition is impressive as well with just one pack grading under the NM-MT level. Includes: GAI Gem Mint 9.5: (9 packs), GAI Mint 9: (10 packs), GAI NM-MT+ 8.5: (12 packs), GAI NM-MT 8: (1 pack), GAI NM+ 7.5: (4 packs). Any non-sports fan would be more than thrilled to add a single pack to their collection. An unopened box from this series is practically unheard of.
