1940 R145 "Superman" SGC-Graded Collection (15). Note: The description has been updated from the write up in the catalog.

Only The Beatles and Elvis could possibly claim to have been as popular as the man of steel. Superman first appeared in the summer of 1938 and shot to stardom faster than... yes, we'll say it, "a speeding bullet." Although the last son of Krypton appeared on practically everything at one time or another he was the subject of surprisingly few card sets. This 1940 series by Gum Inc. is by far his most popular. Includes: Graded - SGC 86 NM+ 7.5: 1 card, #39; SGC 84 NM 7: 2 cards, #'s 29 and 41; SGC 80 EX/NM 6: 2 cards, #'s 12 and 40; SGC 70 EX+ 5.5: 2 cards, #'s 25 and 32; SGC 60 EX 5: 3 cards, #'s 11, 42 and 45; SGC 50 VG/EX 4: 1 card, #34; SGC 40 VG 3: 3 cards, #'s 15, 26, 42; SGC 30 GD 2: 1 card, #51.
