Extremely Rare 1954 Stark & Wetzel "500 Mile Race Winners" SGC Graded Collection (9). "Stark & Wetzel" is a name only a small number of hobbyists are familiar with. In 1954 the meat producer created a set of cards that showcased winners of the Indianapolis 500. Beginning in 1952, the company sponsored an award for the Indy 500 "Rookie of The Year" and did so through 1979. Cards were used as part of the meat packaging but these must be give-away cards as none show staining or product remains as has been reported. Includes: Tommy Milton/1923 #1 (SGC 86 NM+ 7.5), Ralph DePalma/1915 #2 (SGC 60 EX 5), Louis Meyer/1936 #8 (SGC 45 VG+ 3.5), Joe Dawson/1912 #8 (SGC 84 NM 7), Corum & Boyer/1924 #15 (SGC 82 EX/MT+ 6.5), Louis Schneider/1931 #23 (SGC 70 EX+ 5.5), Mauri Rose/1947 #27 (SGC 60 EX 5), George Souders (SGC 80 EX/NM 6) and Lee Wallard/1951 #99 (SGC 60 EX 5). Each of these cards is one of only two or three graded by SGC.
