The earliest known complete non-sports wax box!

1952 Topps "Wings" 1-Cent Unopened Wax Box With All 120 Packs! Like the birth of professional baseball, we have the Wright brothers to thank for this popular issue, though it's Orville and Wilbur here, not George and Harry. The "Wings" set was one of the most popular non-sports creations of the post-war era, and here we encounter it exactly as the Eisenhower-era kids once did at the local five-and-dime. The result is the earliest complete wax box from a major non-sports issue ever to find its way to the hobby's major auction block, a veritable time capsule from the earliest days of the hobby's most celebrated trading card brand.

The box presents only the type of foxing typical of decades-old paper to suggest six decades of lonely storage, with light edge and corner wear barely factoring into the assessment. All seams are solid and unbroken. Dimensions are 8x5.5x1.5". The contents are spared even those minor hints of aging, with the full population of 120 wax packs, each priced at a penny, present and accounted for. Certainly it rates with the most exciting offerings in the challenging subgenre of "unopened wax" to tempt the collector in some time. Reviewed by Steve Hart, sealed by the Baseball Card Exchange.
