1949 Topps "Play Coins of the World" Advertising Sign and Unopened Box. One of the earliest Topps sets was a set called, "Play Coins of the World." A sister set issued in 1949, maybe 1950, was a promotion called "Play Money Pops" that came advertised as a set 72 coins (3 denominations from 24 different countries) and considering they were made by a gum company look relatively realistic although the US Mint has nothing to lose sleep about. Today these coins are seen very rarely and may go unidentified as a Topps product. Offered is a very rare 8-1/2" x 11" ad sheet with binder holes along the left and is otherwise unscathed by time and an even more rare and exciting package that originally housed a dozen "Wholesome Fruit Flavored Pops" (sorry, they are gone) and an unopened cellophane pack containing seven of the "metal" coins. The outer packaging has condition issue like moisture damage and rips and tears but how many of these could there possibly be out in collector hands. Early Topps material is very scarce and are highly prized for its significance to the hobby.
