    Description

1949 Bowman "America Salutes the FBI" Complete Set (36) - Proof(?) Set. The source of the stories of the seedy world of spies, secret agents, FBI agents and the infamous criminals they brought to justice came from "G-Men Detective" magazine. Bowman made these tales come to life via this 36-card series produced in 1949. All but one card is missing the black ink application. The backs are fully printed and the cards are hand cut. Many will feel these are a "proof" of some sort and may be correct, SGC has labeled each as a "progressive proof." At the very least they are cards pulled from the print process prior to completion. Includes: SGC Authentic - #'s 2, 7, 11, 12, 20 and 36. Hand cut status aside, with a handful of exceptions the cards present EX/MT to NM.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
