    Description

1936 R65 Goudey "History of Aviation" Near Set (9/10). These 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" "cards" are actually pages designed to be 2-hole punched and saved in some type of book or album. The fronts offer very colorful illustrations of famous aviators with a tale of personal glory up in the wild blue yonder on the reverse. The set was made to educate and promote aviation, a technology that was improving with each passing year. Missing #8 Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis. The very scarce 9-card near set includes: #'s 1 Howard Hughes (EX/MT), 2 Capt. Rickenbacker (ST), 3 Wiley Post, 4 Charles Lindbergh (ST), 5 Richard Byrd, 6 Willie Mae (ST), 7 Hughes' Record, 9 "Over The North Pole With Byrd" (ST) and 10 Wings Over the Pacific. Pages have not been punched. Grades EX/MT to NM with one slightly lesser. Those with a "ST" have very faint stains from corner mounts.
