    Description

1930's R135-1 United Candy "Beautiful Ships" Complete Set (24) - #2 on the SGC Set Registry! Rank: #2 on the SGC Set Registry with a 48.1 GPA. Each back displays the reverse which offers in exchange for 10 wrappers of Sailor Boy Smokes and 10-cents for a specially designed album to house the cards. This obscure and very colorful series was advertised as a series of 48 but to date only the first series of 24 cards seems to have ever been produced. A lack of sales, no pun intended, could explain the non-existent second series. Rarely offered as a complete set, this 24-card complete set includes: Graded - SGC 86 NM+ 7.5: 2 cards, #'s 13 and 21; SGC 84 NM 7: 1 card, #15; SGC 60 EX 5: 5 cards, #'s 6, 7, 12, 16 and 19; SGC 50 VG/EX 4: 4 cards, #'s 10, 22, 23 and 24; SGC 40 VG 3: 9 cards, #'s 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 14, 17 and 18; SGC 20 FR 1.5: 1 card, #5; SGC 10 PR 1: 2 cards, #'s 11 and 20.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
