    Description

1886 N167 Old Judge T. Powderly SGC 20 Fair 1.5. Terence Vincent Powderly (1849-1924) was a lawyer, politician and labor union leader in the late 19th Century. He served as the head of the Knights of Labor, the mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and United States Commissioner General of Immigration. Powderly was not a great leader of the organization allowing the emergence of the American Federation of Labor (A.F.L.) led by Samuel Gompers. The offered 1886 N167 "Old Judge" card is currently the only example graded to date and displays the elegant horizontal version of the Old Judge ad on the reverse. Graded SGC 20 Fair 1.5.
