Description
Early 1960's NASA "The New Nine" Signed Photograph.Alternately called "Astronaut Group 2" and "The New Nine," this brave brotherhood was responsible for the first moon landing, the miraculous survival of Apollo 13, and the first rendezvous in space. Elliot See would perish in a 1966 plane crash, and Ed White would be lost less than a year later in the Apollo 1 launch pad fire, so fully signed images such as this are both rare and highly desirable. The cast:
Neil Armstrong, Frank Borman, Charles Conrad, Jr., Jim Lovell, James McDivitt, Elliot See, Thomas P. Stafford, Ed White, John Young.
The two men who would die in service have added personalizations to NASA employee Joe Friscelli, whose name has appeared in other autograph personalizations sold in Heritage Space Exploration. The autographs occasionally compete for contrast against the dark background of the 8x10" image, but average a technical 9/10. Photo exhibits a vertical crease about an inch from the right side, only particularly apparent upon close inspection, as our catalog imagery should convey.
