Early 1920's Man o' War Worn Horse Shoe Plaque. One of the most popular racehorses of all time, Man o' War was a Thoroughbred sired by Fair Play, and he would go on to sire War Admiral. In the post-World War I era, Man o' War won twenty of twenty-one races and just under a quarter million dollars in purses. In 1920, he had two Triple Crown wins at the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. He also won Horse of the Year honors that season, and later on was named the "Top Racehorse of the 20th Century," "Associated Press #1 Horse of the 20th Century," "Sports Illustrated's #1 Greatest Horse in Racing History" and many more accolades.

The offered lot is a wooden plaque measuring 8.5x10.5" with an actual horseshoe from Man o' War attached. A nameplate in the center reads, "Man o' War's Shoe - Presented To Dr. Connelly By Sam D. Riddle ." Riddle was the owner of Man o' War since purchasing him at a yearling sale in 1918 for $5,000. Condition is Good with expected nicks and tarnishing.
