2006 Thierry Henry Team Signed Game Worn Arsenal Jersey from Last Game at Highbury.This French footballer had a storied career as an admired competitor and record goal scorer for Arsenal. The Nike jersey on offer here was worn by Henry in the last ever Arsenal game played at Highbury Stadium before the team's move to Emirates Stadium. His hat trick in that game sent Arsenal out a winner, his final goal likewise the last netted in the ancient structure. The team wore a redcurrent and gold home kit throughout the 2006 campaign to honor the color scheme of the original shirts worn during Highbury Stadium's inaugural season of 1913.
Perhaps the most famous photograph of Henry that exists finds him wearing this jersey as he kneels to kiss the hallowed football ground farewell at the close of the contest.
The jersey has "O2" on the front and "Henry 14" on the back, all screened on in gold and white. Three patches are present on the jersey, including an "Arsenal" logo patch on the chest and two "Barclays Premiership" patches on the sleeves. Also "Arsenal v Wigan, The Final Game, 7th May 2006" is screened in gold over the left breast and "Highsbury 1913-2006" is embroidered on the front and back in gold thread. Signed by sixteen, including Henry, in NRMT black sharpie. Comes with two different match day programs.
The jersey is accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from a friend of a friend of Pat Rice, assistant manager of Arsenal, describing how he used this contact to acquire the jersey as a 21st birthday present for his son. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Letter of provenance from original owner.
