2003 The Preakness Stakes "Funny Cide" Victory Trophy Presented to Jockey Jose Santos with Santos Letter.
The first New York-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby, and the first gelding to win since Clyde Van Dusen in 1929, Funny Cide took two-thirds of the 2003 Triple Crown and remains one of the most popular horses of the twenty-first century. Offered is the trophy presented to jockey Jose Santos for his work in piloting the speedy steed to victory at the Preakness Stakes.

Despite a post position nine start, a location hosting just two winners in race history, Funny Cide blasted through the cold, damp afternoon air to a time of 1:55:61, winning the race by nine and three-quarter lengths, the second-largest margin in Preakness history.

The understated aesthetics of the Revere bowls issued to winning jockeys have since been replaced with a considerably more ornate model, so the population of this rare format is complete. The bowl is engraved with the course logo and the words, "The 128th Running of The Preakness Stakes, Grade 1 - $1,000,000, May 17, 2003." The horse's name is engraved to the silver band around the base.

The trophy measures nine inches (9") in height and six inches (6") in diameter across the lip of the bowl. It presents flawlessly, and is accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from the winning jockey. Triple Crown race winner's trophies almost never become available in the collecting community, so this is a rare and welcome opportunity for the advanced collector. Letter of provenance from Jose Santos.
