    Description

1986 Randy "Macho Man" Savage WrestleMania II Ring Worn Robe - Gifted to Public Address Announcer! Wrestling forever changed when Vince McMahon created WrestleMania in 1985. Considered a regional phenomenon, All-Star Wresting now had a national feel associated to it when McMahon took the reins of the WWF. One of the men who helped make the male soap opera popular was Randy "Macho Man" Savage. With great microphone skills and an ability to work a match like few others, Savage was a main eventer his entire career. Gifted from Savage to WrestleMania II public address announcer Chet Coppock (Rosemont Horizon) is this classic robe. Savage and Coppock were close friends. Coppock is commonly referred to as "The God Father of Sports Radio" by his contemporaries. The sequin filled outfit has "Macho Man" in silver against the purple, green and gold background. Given the great inside wear and extreme cost to make such an outfit, we are safe in assuming Savage donned this for the better parts of a year. While Macho Man ring-worn attire surfaces from time to time, nothing has sold of this quality and vintage, when every kid followed the sport. No manufacturer is listed. For the record, Savage was successful in his bout with George The Animal Steele. Video footage of Savage wearing this very robe will appear on-line. Letter of provenance from Chet Coppock, P.A. announcer from WrestleMania II.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
