1984 Martina Navratilova French Open Match Used Racquet from The Judy Nelson Collection. She was the most dominant force in women's sports during her time, claiming multiple Championships in every Grand Slam tournament, but the clay courts of Paris proved to be her most challenging geography, supplying only two of her eighteen major titles. This racquet helped earn her second title there, with a defeat of her greatest rival, Chris Evert, in the Final.We aren't certain of the precise round, or rounds, of the 1984 French Open appear upon the presented racquet's resume--the plaque affixed at the bottom of the framed display states simply, "Martina Navratilova, The Grand Slam French Open, 1984 Champion, One Million Dollars." But we can confirm that the unique design of the "Yonex R-22" model is present in all film and photography from the competition.
The racquet exhibits fine game use and a few broken strings, presenting very well in its mirrored 16x35x3" display. Letter of provenance from Judy Nelson.
