1969 Neil Armstrong Signed Apollo 11 First Day Cover & Response Letter. Neil Armstrong was near impossible autograph conquest from the mid 1990's until his death in 2012. He flat out refused to sign anything. Autograph seekers and even students he taught were turned away when inquiring about having him pen his identity. Back in the 1960's Armstrong signed his name, mainly to mail requests. Margaret Helvenston's stroke of good luck is offered with this listing. Armstrong carefully signed this Apollo 11 U.S. Navy Recovery Force cachet (6.5x3.5") in blue ballpoint - postmarked July 24 1969 USS Hornet. The astronaut took this listing a step further though. He also wrote Helvenston a letter on NASA stationery and thanked her for the well wishes. He closed the note (5.25x8") with another stellar signature. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
