1960's Pele Game Worn Jersey. A gift from one member of the historic 1970 World Cup-winning Brazilian soccer team to another, this remarkable jersey provides spectacular provenance to match its collecting appeal. Marco Antonio was a defender on the team that conquered Italy by a tally of four to one in the Mexico City final, and a close friend of the star forward and greatest name in soccer history. He poses with the jersey in two snapshot photos, and signs the included letter of provenance in a third, attesting "that the jersey enclosed have (sic) been given to me personally by Edson Arantes do Nascimento Pele who has been my close friend for many years."

The simple white cotton jersey features the Santos Futebol Clube logo patch over the heart and the iconic number "10" in black tackle twill on verso. For the uninitiated, Santos was the club Pele represented from 1956 through 1974, recognized as one of the premier professional franchises in soccer history. Much of the world would see a Pele Santos jersey in the same light that American baseball collectors would consider a Babe Ruth Yankees flannel. Proper "Athleta" label is affixed at interior collar, noting that the jersey was manufactured in the Brazilian city of Sao Paolo. The ribbed collar and cuffs represent a distinctive styling point seen in Santos jerseys of the era, and the rather diminutive size matches exactly other verified Pele jerseys. Adding a final, definitive bit of provenance is Pele himself, who applied a 9/10 black sharpie signature to the chest. Certainly one of the most solid and desirable Pele jerseys to reach the auction block in recent memory. Letter of provenance from Pele teammate Marco Antonio. LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
