1928 Helen Wills Wimbledon Ladies' Singles Winner's Medal & Club Tag. Another dominant performance from Ms. Wills, who claimed the second of four consecutive Wimbledon Championships this year on the storied grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Like her French Open success this year, Wills never surrendered more than three games in any of her straight-set victories, inclusive of her Finals win over number two seed Lili de Alvarez of Spain. Wills would ultimately win eight Wimbledon titles in Women's Singles, and another four in Doubles competition.

Wills' prize for the 1928 victory is presented here, a gorgeous fifteen karat gold medal housed in its original "Fattorini & Sons Ltd." jeweler's case. A Victory figure in flowing robes kneels before a tennis net on the obverse, with reverse announcing "The Lawn Tennis Championships" in raised lettering at the perimeter. Engraved at center are the words, "Ladies Singles Champion Miss Helen Wills 1928." Maker's mark of "F&S" appears at lower edge along with the ".625" imprint designating the gold content. Diameter one and a half inches.

Fine condition. Case is embossed in gold, "The Lawn Tennis Championships 1928." Also included is a leather identification tag, either for Wills' person or belongings, embossed in gold, "All England Lawn Tennis Club 1928," with a handwritten "Miss H. Wills." Size is two inches diameter.
