Description
1928 Amsterdam Summer Olympics Silver Second-Place Medal. The spectacular state of preservation of this important rarity is certainly due in large part to its continued residence within the ultra-scarce original embossed leather presentation box. The design of the medal belongs to noted artist Giuseppe Cassioli, and features a seated Victory holding laurel wreath and palm on obverse, and ancient Greek vase, Roman Coliseum, and victor carried by jubilant athletes with stadium in background on verso. Weight is 65 g., diameter 55 mm. Only 258 were struck.Additional details and provenance for the Harmer Johnson Olympic Collection.View all of [The Harmer Johnson Olympic Collection ]
