1900's Collection of 20 Worn Horseshoes Including Dan Patch from Kenilworth Race Track. Built in 1902 by the Buffalo Racing Association, the Kenilworth Race Track entertained fans for seven years. The race track offered trackside and off-track betting, which eventually led to its closing. This 24.5x40.5" display was originally housed at the venue where it remained until its closing. Twenty horseshoes are featured inside the relic. Toping the list is one worn by Dan Patch. The horse was never defeated and held nine records during its formative years. The others were used by famous trotters and pacers of that time. Represented are: (2) Mary D., Major Delmar, Carl Wilkes, Major C, Wanscott, Billy Buck, Prince of Orange, Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo, Sadie Mac, Johnny Wiseman, John Taylor and a few more. Tools used to remove the horseshoes are found on the bottom. An interesting piece from the early days of horse racing.
